Information engineers can mine data from databases and present items or indicators of interests that can help. But good understanding of the data (its definition, reliability, timeliness,…) are necessary to make good use of data. There are legal issues on mining of data and using of data mined from certain sources too. Google Analytics is an example.

There are sayings among IT workers: “eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, know what you buy, Google knows what you want to buy , the post offices know you live. ;-)
