In ‘IT’ there are a lot of standards for just about everything to ensure reliability (work as expected –as specified in the relevant standards) of ‘products’. Most standards are revised many times in the last 10 years as more and better IT products come to the mass. So standards are used as (generalized) warranties.

So, standards set minimum quality –not maximum quality.

Quality Assurance standards are ‘contracts’ between producers and consumers that the products when used/operated in ‘normal settings’ will work by the standard(s) which the product(s) are said to comply.
