I like to see “Parents also learn” (TSS-1) and “Parents participate in school development” (TSS-5) getting highlighted. I believe the deep-seeded Thai culture of obedience is very hard to loosen. This culture make Thais silent amid injustice, prejudice and corruption. Unable to join in conversations (for fear of being ‘out of place’ or appearing disrespectful. Unable to offer ideas, facts, supports even for the right reasons. Look at the responses to blogging by prominent scholars and pundits, Virtually, none! So, sociopolitical or technical matters never get aired, discussed and clarified. This is also an underlining reason for lack for Thai initiatives and innovation which is needed to survive in the rest of this century.

I urge Thais to be more ‘vocal’. Say what we think, learn from being open and stand up for ‘our rights’.
