In AUS, home modification and renovation need to go through ‘council approval’ process on top of the usual design, contract,… The council have duty to ensure drainage, fire safety, public safety, traffic regulation, ‘look’ (cultural impression?),… are in compliance to ‘laws and by-laws’. The council building inspectors visit the site before, during and after the work and sometimes issue modification notices before compliance certificate.

There are good opportunities in servicing need of aged and disable clients that Thailand’s technical colleges and manufacturers should look into.
