I think ‘road’ is any thing connecting 2 places. In a sense that ‘road’ is a ‘logical’ link a way to/from places.‘Street’, avenue, lane, close, court, crescent,… (that we see in English addresses) are ‘types’ (qualification) of ‘physical’ (constructed) ‘road’.

The distinction is blur because we don’t care much about logical or physical anymore.
