Holding on to the mission (dream, commitment, goal, principle,...) is called '[true] grit' and is admirable. But holding on 'methods/tactics/certain tools and certain technologies' can be a disadvantage. In a way, a mission is to be accomplished and another mission after that... not all missions can be done in the same way!
