I have mentioned "modern library services' a few times. But this is not what I have in mind. I think a lot of librarians still see themselves as 'curators' of books. Todays and tomorrows we need 'data mining technicians' who can provide data accessing, processing and costing to satisfy information requests. We can browse and search for reading materials on the Net. We don't need books based on 'trees' -- anymore. We do need information and libraries that provide services as 'information shops' with customer services -- what, where, when, how and how much (this or that will cost). We will leave the why for information seekers. ;-)
