Yes. And in another way a root of a word means where that word comes from (ie. origin). In this case 'centre' (English spelling from French word 'centre') or 'center' (US spelling) is from Latin 'centrum' or greek 'kentron'...

I think perhaps we need clearer Thai word(s) to call what we are talking about ('derivatives' from 'base word') here.
