Ummmh, I don't see them like that but you have your view and express it in a way between both (not short -- long but not too long ;-) i would say 'teachers --idealy-- aim to excite students' curiosity' and 'journalists aim to sensationalize with or use audiences' curiosity'.

Multimedia techologies offer more 'channels' and means to excite and use people's senses.
