I think we need to know more about "why we burn" (or the root of our evil). Substitutes for burning will go a lot further than clearing smokes and polluting particles.

We hear that a major agribusiness is indirectly promoting slash-and-burn techniques in growing crops for animal feed. We also hear of land clearing for wealthy people to have 'country life style' (holidays homes).
