Like "จิต วิญญาณ" (citta & vi~n~naana), "สติ & สัมปชัญญะ" are both very difficult to understand and differentiate.
I used to play badminton with my partner. I had physical advantages and practical experiences, but I payed for exercise in mind - not winning or showing off. My shots were aimed at making my partner reach out for a little more while keeping the shuttle cock well within the confinement of the court. I kept in mind that I could learn to be more accurate in play and raising my skill as well as my partner skill in a friendly and enjoyable game. We played every evening well into sunset for many months before a dead tree fell on my right foot and crippled me for a few months.
Now I no longer have physical advantages over my partner and my eyes are also failing. Badminton is no longer a game we play for enjoyment of full awareness but it is a game we both struggle to keep the play moving on.
In both cases awareness and comprehension (สติ & สัมปชัญญะ) of the situation are there! They are not so difficult to achieve using a game as a medium for practice.
