Pattani Islamic Council chairman Wadueramae Mamingji, meanwhile, criticised the attack as contrary to the Prophet's teachings.
On Thursday, he joined with community leaders and hundreds of citizens at a Pattani mosque on Thursday, praying together for peace in the Deep South. He demanded that the insurgents stop targeting small children, disabled people and other innocents.
"I am very sorry about the incident that has happened and caused so much terror among general people," Wadueramae said. "Allah’s teachings are clear that such actions are sins. Religion teaches us to be good people and refrain from any activities that would cause hardship or sadness to others."
"I would like to call on all parents to play their important role in raising their children to be ethical people,” he added.
