I looked at how people make decisions some time ago. I summed it up like 83% by copying existing decisions (what we know, learn or are told); 8% by trial-and-error (by using instinct, insight or hunch); 4% by analysis; 2% by synthesis; and the other 3% by not making decisions ;-) [I could perhaps say that only 14% can make decisions by themselves. Making decision relates to learning: the more decisions we have to make the more we learn. The flipped side of this theory: the more we learn, the more decisions we can make - ourselves.]

But hey they are your kids, you experiment with them ;-)
