Children are much more intelligent if we let them explore the real world. (I have witnessed a 2-year old reading shop names -- in Thai and English -- while travelling on roads.)

Our assumptions that children at what age "should" have such and such capability to learn or to perform such and such things may be limiting children to live and learn only within a box that we build.

I personally would spend more time and money taking children out to play (to develop body and coordination) and to see different things (to develop curiosity and learning --of real world--). Cjildren can tell us what they are interested in. They can play something again and again. They can watch something over and over. They can reach out for something, They can move away from something...

Let us learn more about them --individually-- before we force our assumption on them. Please.
