Naural language processing is one of the key man-machine interfaces. The dream is for man and machine to communicate in man's natural ways (using voice, touch, gesture, text and picture media like we human do with one other.) It has been some 60 years of research and we have just learned to crawl. C3P0 is still firmedly footed in Star Wars movie.

I think our current research and tries are based on 'programming', Our body works on 'drives' with senses/measuring, cogition/memory, learning/experiencing and 'theortisizing'(/imagination). We should let machines have 'drives' and see what machines can do. (In western cultures 'drive' (or 'go') is  what children are equipped in school years, not 'knowledge or competency'.

It is time we learn how to use "linguistic solutions" for our social problems. Language is a key factor of culture -- and cultural solutions must be sought as well as 'technological solutions'. (We need all hands on deck ;-)
