This bamboo ไผ่สีสุกยักษ์  is strange and interesting. You say it can grow very fast and have very dense (strong fiber) wood. Usually, heavy, strong, dense woods come from slow growing plants/trees, and light, weak, coarse grain woods come from fast growing plants/trees. This ไผ่สีสุกยักษ์ may grow fast in one dimension (upward) but not in cross-section (diameter of a size C battery -- did you say?).

This oddity alone is enough for some detailed study of ไผ่สีสุกยักษ์ (at postgraduate level). The possible use of ไผ่สีสุกยักษ์ is also of values to industries. But let us first establish its genetic makeup and its relations to other bamboos -- let us have a formal name.
