It's a "5-minute" cassava because most of its harmful cyanide can be removed by boiling for 5 minutes (longer is better). So, It is boiled for 5 minutes to make it safe to eat ;-)

"มันห้านาที" is a variety of so-called "sweet"(yellow, low cyanide) cassava. Most varieties are "bitter" (white, high cyanide) cassava that need boiling for 30 minutes or more to bring down the cyanide level to safe level for eating.

Other methods like drying and fermenting usually take days to render cassava safe.
