This year, Thailand may be lucky because of bad drought in US and as usual Africa. Thai rice may even sell upto USD700 (THB22,000) per ton. But how much and for how long would depend on how India, Vietnam and Burma can capture the markets in Africa and South America NOW.

With that price, a big margin for profit will drive many rice exporting to frenzy and perhaps to their own grave. Prices for many foods in domestic markets will jump (at least 12-15%) before the end of this year.

Start growing your own rice, sweet potato, sorghum, millet, corn, taro, ... pumpkin ,.... in plastic bags, foam boxes, ... Come the New Year, you will so glad you did ;-)
