Katie began her first year of medical school in August 2011.
This quarter, she learned about cell and molecular biology, immunology, and the musculoskeletal system.
She also began her study of anatomy and physiology (with cadavers!).
She also learned how to take a patient history, obtain patient vital signs, and conduct a musculoskeletal exam.
She was selected to serve on a steering committee as a leader for RU Caring, an organization that hosts health fairs for the underserved.
Katie also took a research elective course throughout the fall quarter and will begin doing research during the winter quarter.
Finally, she has been involved in a clinical physicianship program and has been spending four hours at a pediatric practice in Chicago every other week.
