As a simile water and oil mixed into cream. That is how science and 'magic' mixed in our life and our community.

We can take a 'witch hunt' (they are different - burn them) or a 'Galileo way' (if it is true - there is a way to prove it over and over) or a middle way (let us learn the truth together). We are not always a witch, always a Galileo but one at one time and another at another time. As someone once said "at extraordinary time, we can do extraordinary thing".

Our aim to make lives (including our own life) in community better to live. We don't know everything yet. We are learning and there are more of what we don't know to learn. In any community we have: In the Sciences basket, we have tools built from what we have learned and tested. In the magic basket, we have people's beliefs, illusions, unexplained phenonema and other psychological gadgets built on imagination and superstition. We can try to beat the other side to submission or extinction. But what would be the costs of winning or losing? We can try (like religions have done) converting. But we may end up with the same 2 sides with people moving from one side to another side depending on their experience. Again (like religions have done), we can work out a culture that allows blending that lets people 'participate' in either side without having to 'commit' to one side only. This way is as we can agree, a way to 'walk together', live together and grow old together (like children do, before they become trapped in one side!).

In sum, this long and winding talk says: the goal is better community; wars among us because of our beliefs are not the way; but a cultural platform that all can participate in their own custom seems a better community.
