I have problems getting to people to call me just "sr" -- no title, no prefix, no flattery words,...

But the brahmanic tradition makes it feel like a name is incomplete without additional words. Yet for long words like university, prime minister, ... we use abbreviations.

I can't understand this 2 opposing practices. ;-) or in abbreviation ;D
