By the way, last time I was travelling upcountry in Thailand. I had some health problems, went to a private hospital in BKK, given some antibiotic tablets, later I had other symptoms, went to another hospital in the province, had blood tests (and a black, bruised area on my left arm that took 5 days to go away), found that I had low tolerance for one kind of the given antibiotic, and i was given alternate medicine, which increased my senses of taste and sense of smell markedly (i could not take chillies -- they became very hot and very smelly for about a week, and I spat out soup in a Sydney restaurant 10 days later because it was too salty to my taste).
I wonder if my extra adventures were added by "well trained doctors" in their rush to serve people ;-) not just a trainee nurse who punched for my vein 4 times and twisted the needle in my muscle to get to my vein.
I survived that. All my symptoms went when I ate less adventurously (more "home cooking"). Perhaps it was just the way the microbes in my gut protested.
Today, I still don't know and wonder if อาการแพ้อาหารแพ้ยา may come from the gut bacteria protesting or protecting their environment. What do you think?
