Back in my younger days, a cooking style I used quite often is the one people use to cook pigs' meal -- throwing in meats, veggies. spices, leftovers, ... and rice into a (japanese) rice cooker. I had a name for that 'combination rice' (in mock of 'combination noodles' on menus in chinese restaurants). I also made dough from wheat flour with bicarbonate, eggs, salt and pepper, and other spices and cooked in (yep) that rice cooker -- and ate the big steam bun.
I wonder now if there are enough bamboos to kick off a Thai innovation (again). I have heard that bamboos are scarce now; and that someone is making bamboo charcoal to sell to a Japanese research concern; and that fuel/gas is becoming very expensive; ...
Bamboo wastes would be welcome as cheaper fuel in households ;-)
