1. IQ tests show scores of preschoolers are some 20 points higher than schooling children; primary school children score some 10 points higher than secondary school children; (I don't know of any comparison between) secondary school children and tertiary students ???
Perhaps in our quest to increase knowledge among children, problem solving, imagination and creativity have lost their values. Furthermore, what creativity remains is used to fuel self-indulgence.
2. (Vocational and tertiary) education aims to satisfy industries. Industries aim to cut cost and increase profit. Currently, automation and robots are rapidly developing and will be more cost-effective than human counterparts in many situations. With cheap (USD10/day or less) skilled labour (more than 4 billions strong) in 100+ countries around the world (many with very good and cheap transport infrastructures), competition to supply labour is pushing down working conditions and environmental quality. Yet, our policy continues blindly in this direction. ???
