I read quickly some points from Davos (most important issues discussed at Davos were drowned out by our first female prime minister's speech).

On the issue of "oceans and seafood" I thought about the management of fish stock in the Gulf of Thailand:

GoT is a major spawning and nursery area for a number of fish (ปลาทู included) and many more predatory fish that come to feed on smaller fish. (The economic value of fishery in GoT is over 100,000 millions baht annually.)

GoT is the sink for major rivers in Thailand (flood water drains in here); receives many chemical discharges from the Eastern industrial zones and some nutrients from the Mekong river delta (by a current); has busy shipping traffic (noise and oil pollution); ...

Our government have 'authorized' many projects that may impact GoT and the economic value generated from GoT without proper assessment of people's dependencies on GoT, fish stock and so on.

Decisions on class time are made in the same fashion -- without assessment of impacts.
