I remember from an interview of a Philippines' presidential candidate some years ago.
He said "Power is Right".
And "If the laws does not work for us, then we make new laws that will work (for us)".
I thought about that for a long while and reluctantly agreed, after thinking about "traditions, human rights, and justice".
But I hold the Buddha's Siila:
--- the right to life for all beings (not just human)
--- the right to life supporting properties
--- the right to family and social associations
--- the right to true information and honest choice
--- the wrong of external excuses
The Siila is much more advanced than the UN human rights and UN animal rights.
The Siila is a stronger foundation for law and governance.
From the Siila: Justice is in the middle (unbiased)!
