The impression I had when I was touring Thailand -not too long ago-.

"ชาวบ้าน" [rural folks] had become a politically (in)sensitive label.

"พี่น้องในชุมชน" [family in rural areas] was used (to make people feel better).

Maybe the election campaigns were now over. We can say what we think of them again.
