I think this principle is a 'root of evil'.
Optimizing profit can be seen as 'human-centric'. Nature is much more distributive.
Human judgment of what good or bad has been very much 'self-interest'.
Considerations for other lives (as in the 1st siila) are very shallow.
We say 'I don't kill anyone' but we eat meat.
We cut down trees, destroy habitats, contaminate water and air, ... all for 'profit'.
It would be acceptable if we talked about 'growth' or increases in broader environment rather than self-centric 'profit'.
Of the other principles: I do practice them religiously.
And when Buddhism is included we can see the '5 siila' as the guiding principles for all lives.
