Perhaps we are talking about 'data' (or 'facts') which litters the Internet and Google is very good at finding some for us.

What is 'knowledge'? For individuals? For the Public (open-source)? When we use available knowledge to serve a purpose, we may say we 'create' a technology. Why can't we create new technologies? Perhaps, we don't have real purposes in mind ;-)
