I think the Internet is another 'new' sense (or sensory organ) that we have to learn to use 'properly'.

Like mobile phone and television (in facts mobility and audio+vision sensing over the Internet neuron networks) will be the way (some of us and) our children will see and connect to 'the world'. We can agree that many modern technologies extend our (common 6) senses from just areas around us to all far corners of the world. This is a very powerful larger-than-life extension. It empowers those who can use it in many ways. But this 'power' can corrupt and be misused.

With this extended sense, we can 'learn' to 'look after ourselves and family' where-so-ever we are. We will learn to reduce transportation of materials (like food, water and utensils) and mass production of wastes.

BTW, I see 'English' as another tool for communication (or sensing) for a global village (society). We will see 'global and remote' services (health, education, arts and literature), global and remote management (farming, water allocation, mining, marketing and transportation), ... the world wide network of natural and infrastructural systems will be 'sensed' and 'managed' through the Internet.
