A wide area of research and industry is open to Thailand. We can become a producer and a leader of 'sleep technology' (not ไสยศาสตร์ black magic or superstition) if we put our effort into it (rather than spending our learning time in recording and replaying 'traditional' sciences and technologies (of the past 200 years). We can be exploring and lighting up the 'dark side' (ไสยา) for the future.

The basic necessities (ปัจจัย) for life (or living) apart from input (water, food, air, energy) and 'senses' (eye, ear, ... - feedback, adaptation or 'learning') is 'sleep' (rest, recovery or regeneration for body's wear and tear and linking of neurons). From there we need medicine, relationship, and goal to maintain our wellness (or our sanity -- see Marslow's Hierarchy of Needs). To buddhists, at the top of the pyramid of needs may be 'realization of non-self-attachment' (neither attaching to self or goal or or wealth or fame or happiness) ;-).
