คำตอบค่ะ
1. What do you see?
- Different stages of life.
- "..You'd only start living when the flame is on..."
- "...I think the fresh, unlit match could even indicate the one that is still in the womb, not born yet, or the baby that yet has to start its life...."
- "....The unlit match could mean the starting points in many more ways than one, too. Like, it could mean the starting point when you finish school, university, or entering a new job...."
2. What does that remind you of? What kind of impression does it have on you?
- "...Uncertainty. The unlit match could mean the healthy state of young person. Once lit, it could mean being triggered by a sudden hit of chronic disease or illness and his/ her life quickly deteriorates...."
- "....The only thing that is permanent is impermanence itself.
- "....Another concept of this match-burning is that the time on earth is quite limited...."
- Why? Because the flame burns, doesn't it? It needs resources to burn. The longer it stays on, the more it becomes like carbon...."
- "...And time is also a limited resources. Most of the time, we do not realize it...."
- "...And by going to Chiangmai Vipassana Center, most people would realize it....Some more, some less. But I think everybody's eyes are open, in general, basically...." (ป๊ะปะหนูพูดเองนะคะอาจารย์ หนูเปล่าบอกบทนะคะเนี่ย โห...ปลื้ม ๆ)
- "....It's only in the environment of meditation that you can see very clear what is happening in your life, what you are going through...."
- "....So, to see these burning matches is to see your life's time frame in super-fast motion...Everything is so compressed in a very short-time"
- "....I like it that he puts here these 5 matches as the examples...."
- "...Why? If you burns the match long enough, it would bend over as if it is showing an older person, an older life....."
- "...You could not convey the same message if you just light 5 candles..."
- "...I wonder if Ajarn Pichai made the photo himself? The photo is so clear and vivid. Like something real in front of me...."
- "....I think he must have used the Super Macro mode...."
3. Why?
- "...Because the only thing that is permanent in this world is Impermanence itself...."
4. What title would you give to this piece of art?
"The Impermanence of Life"
