Unit 4 Getting samples from a patient
Urine sample
Nurse May I get a sample of your urine?
Patient Yes,you may.
Nurse Please take this container to the bathroom.
Fill it up to here
Start filling the container after you have urinated for
a few seconds.
When you have finished put the top on the container.
Please give me the container after you have finished.
We will send it to the lab for testing.
Patient Where is the bathroom?
Nurse Turn left at the next corner. you will see the
bathroom on your right.
Patient Thank you.

Stool sample
Nurse I need to get a sample of your stool.
Patient That's okay. What should I do?
Nurse Please go to the bathroom.
Scoop some stool into this container.
Patient How much do you want?
Nurse Just one scoop is enough.
Patient That's no problem nurse.
(ระวังคำว่า stool ฝรั่งบางคนเข้าใจว่าเป็น เก้าอี้)
ปิดฝา put the top on the container
ใส่ที่ตัก stool เข้าใป put the spoon in the container
Blood sample
Nurse Sit down here please. I need to take a blood sample.
Please put your arm on the table.(pillow)
Patient Which arm?
Nurse Left or right is okay.
Patient Will this hurt? I don't like needles.
Nurse It will only hurt a little.( a little hurt , a prink,)
Please keep your arm very still.
Please make a fist.
Okay, it is all over. You can relax.
Please hold this cotton ball on the needle mark to stop
any bleeding.
I am going to put a band aid on it.
You can take it off after about 10 minutes.
Patient Thank you nurse.
Nurse You are welcome.
Blood sample II
Nurse Sit down, please.
Please put your arm on the pillow.
Patient All right.
Nurse Please roll your arm over.
I'm going to put the touniguet on your upper arm.

Patient OK.
Nurse Please make a fist. กำมือ
I'm going to clean the injection area.
,put the needle in your arm
,draw some blood
and take out the needle.
Please hold the cotton ball here.
You can take it off in about 10 minute.
Patient How long will it take for the result?
Nurse It's about 30 minute.
Patient Thank you nurse.

Example

Go straight ahead, turn left at the cashier , go straight ahead,
just before the car park the toilet is on the right.
(you will see the toilet on the right just before the car park)
