Sorry to be at odds with that advice. From my experiences, there are 2 barriers to break our own limits/records: - the first is ‘mental’ when your mind tells you to give up it also gives you excuses, like too hot, too far, there are better things, you don’t need this,…- the second is ‘physiological’ when your body tells you to stop it comes with pains, hormone flush, heart racing, clamps, errors in motion/movement,…
So the first barrier stops you achieving your best. The second stops you getting better than your best. Both barriers can be shifted by training and by innovating .
