การวิจัยทฤษฎีฐานราก (Grounded Theory Research)

ด้วยมีนักศึกษาระดับปริญาเอกหลายคนสนใจจะนำแนวคิด และวิธีการวิจัยฐานรากมาใช้ในการทำวิทยานิพนธ์ ซึ่งผมก็เห็นว่าเป็นเรื่องดี เราจะได้เริ่มมีคนสร้างทฤษฎีใหม่ในสังคมไทยต่อไป ดังนั้นเพื่อสนับสนุนแนวคิดและความตั้งใจดังกล่าว ผมจึงให้เวลาเดือนกว่าศึกษาเรื่องนี้อย่างจริงจัง ดังบทความที่แนบครับ

My crude understanding of ‘grounded theory’ is that it is a method of research based on induction of data (samples collected and statistical methods used). This dependency on data means the quality of data, its collection and good understanding of statistics are the necessary requisites. ‘Imaginary data’ has no place in this methodology.

If using grounded theory method leads to having better data collectors and analysers, I am ‘for it’.

You are right, but originally, Glasser and Strauss proposed the concept and method of Grounded Theory as a mean of a research finding generalization in qualitative research method, which mainly used case studies, or purposive and small-sized sample to the population. In addition to that, they suggested the generalisation of the finding across the field. I believed that ‘Grounded’ in their concept, is a wider range coverage, across other academic areas.
