วัคซีนโควิด - BA.1 หรือ BA.5

There is a debate on vaccination against COVID-19 going on today. The issue is this: the dominant Omicron sub-variants are BA.4 and BA.5 but the vaccines are made from sub-variant BA.1; and that BA.4 and BA.5 can evade the current vaccines.

Questions

When are BA.5 based vaccines available? 

In USA the BA.5 based vaccines are expected in fall (late September - late December). In Thailand possibly 1-2 months delay an be expected. Even though ‘full testing procedure’ (for new vaccines) may not apply, safety assurance procedure will still apply.

What are alternatives?

New [type or approach] vaccines coming to the market will have to be tested effective against BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants or they will not gain market shares. Will they gain necessary approvals before fall in USA? This is also high up in the marketing schedules.
