Language - Misinformation
Following the Russia-Ukraine war does require some deeper learning of languages and war tactics. Here are some phrases I have learned:
=='casus belli' - Latin, an act or situation that provokes or justifies a war
-- belli - Latin, war, fight; derivative words like rebellion, bellicose (belligerent) eager to fight/quarrel
=='false flag' - slang, originated to describe pirates’ wielding of friendly (and false) flags to lure merchant ships close enough to attack, later for any attack against 'friendly' countries to justify (or create pretense for) adversary actions.
"little green men" refers to masked soldiers of the Russian Federation in unmarked green army uniforms and carrying modern Russian military weapons and equipment who appeared during the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014. [ Wikipedia ]

Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe, the second-largest country by area (603,548 Km2) after Russia, which borders to the east and north-east (Belarus to the north; Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west; Romania and Moldova to the south; and has a coastline along the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea). Capital: Kyiv. Population: 44M (2020 World Bank).
Ukraine is a major grain (barley, corm and wheat) and sunflower oil producer and exporter -a food bowl of Europe -due to its extensive fertile land; also exports steel, coal, fuel and petroleum products, chemicals, machinery and transport equipment; 60+% of export goes to Russia.
Ukraine has abundant reserves of coal, iron ore, natural gas, manganese, salt, oil, graphite, sulfur, kaolin, titanium, nickel, magnesium, timber, and mercury.

The territory of modern Ukraine has been inhabited since 32,000 BC. During the Middle Ages, the area was a key centre of East Slavic culture, with the loose tribal federation Kievan Rus' forming the basis of Ukrainian identity. Following its independence, Ukraine declared itself a neutral state; it formed a limited military partnership with Russia and other [Commonwealth Independent State] CIS countries while also establishing a partnership with NATO in 1994. In 2013, after the government of President Viktor Yanukovych had decided to suspend the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement and seek closer economic ties with Russia, a several-months-long wave of demonstrations and protests known as the Euromaidan began, which later escalated into the Revolution of Dignity that led to the overthrow of Yanukovych and the establishment of a new government. These events formed the background for the annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014 and the War in Donbas, a protracted conflict with Russian-backed separatists, from April 2014 until the Russian invasion in February 2022. Ukraine applied for the economic component of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the European Union in 2016.

Rebel:
Russian separatist forces of Donbas are the military formations affiliated with the unrecognized pro-Russian breakaway regions in Ukraine called the Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic. ... They are designated as terrorist groups by the Government of Ukraine. [ wikipedia ]
Donbas (Don-BAS). This word refers to the region of southeastern Ukraine that includes Donetsk and Luhansk. The term "DonBAS" is an acronym, which means “Donets coal basin”.
Ukraine considers them to be part of the "temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine" as a result of Russian military intervention, together with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Chernobyl
