I think 'death' as we understand is like a 'one way door' we all travelling towards. We fear and fascinate by our imagination of what lies beyond the door. We know the door only admits 'life' or mind but not body or any material -- we have to leave all that trappings behind (for someone-else). We know of no-one who is refused entry from this door. We heard of someone 'come-back-from-death' but all they could tell is 'out-of-body (life) experience' -- though many have claimed communication with someone who had died long time ago, these claims have been proven false.
As to the body we'll leave at the door for others to do what they think best, there are stories of 'voices from beyond' telling people to do such-and-such so-and-so to the body (best to put in in the 'will' - what to do with the body and other stuff left behind - to prevent lobha, dosa, and moha from complicating things) but is there someone who returned 'to collect'? (Perhaps, our body is not as perfect as we like or having no-body is a far better option or ? can one tell?)
I have had experienced of someone leaving her body in my 'hand' on her death - it was not pleasant nor scary or fearsome. Yes it is still in memory but as an abstract mark of an event of see someone gone through that door (of death).
