That may depend on many more things than just the Ministerial Directive. Experiences in EU and elsewhere say it may take few months for children in class to talk (communicate) to each other. To learn to "read" and "write" the national language well enough (passing a basic proficiency test) will take much longer.Thai, English and ... ?Multilingual is the way of the future. People around the world (including Thais) will be living, working, and learning around the world. To do that well, they will have to learn other lanuages (apart from their mother tongue), learn other cultures (believes and cultural practices) and learn a 'nitche' in multicultural society to be able to live in peace (at least in AEC ;-).

: I'm not really pessimistic but I think it's "us" who will have to swallow this bitter medicine together with our pride. ;-) We should wake up and realize multicultural long time ago. And I guess 'Westernization' is another culture too.
