Hypothesis

Hypothesis is a tentative theory about the natural world. It is a concept that is not yet verified but that true would explain certain facts or phenomenon. It is a tentative idea that is waiting for evidence to support or refute it. Although hypothesis is considered as a “guess”, but is should be one which is scientifically stated. There are two types of hypothesis: research and statistical hypothesis. Research hypothesis is further subdivided into directional and non-directional hypothesis. How to differentiate directional from non-directional hypothesis? The first one is also called as a one tailed hypothesis and the latter is known as the two tailed hypothesis.  Statistical hypothesis is further subdivided into null and alternative hypothesis or referred to as competing statements. These hypotheses are mutually exclusive and exhaustive.
