อะไรคือ Scitopia
Scitopia หรือ www.scitopia.org เป็นเว็บไซต์ที่เป็นศูนย์รวมการสืบค้นข้อมูลทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีที่สมาคมวิชาชีพทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีมากกว่า 15 สมาคมชั้นนำร่วมกันสร้างขึ้นเพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในการสืบค้นข้อมูลทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีจากแหล่งต่างๆ ได้เพียงการกำหนดคำค้นเพียงครั้งเดียว ซึ่งสามารถค้นได้จากบทความวิชาการ รายงานทางเทคนิค รายงานการประชุม และสิทธิบัตร 2 ใน3 ของบทความวารสารนั้นเป็นบทความประเภท peer review รวมทั้งสิ่งพิมพ์รัฐบาลซึ่งเป็นลิขสิทธิ์ของกระทรวงพลังงาน สหรัฐอเมริกา มีเอกสารทั้งหมดมากกว่า 3.5 ล้านชื่อเรื่อง ช่วยให้รวบรวมข้อมูลศึกษาวิจัยในสาขานี้สะดวกมากยิ่งขึ้น
สมาคมหลักที่ร่วมจัดทำ Scitopia นั่นหมายถึงฐานข้อมูลที่สมาคมเหล่านั้นเป็นเจ้าของด้วย

หากผู้ใช้เข้าใช้ฐานข้อมูลใดข้อมูลหนึ่ง เช่น IEEE, ASME เป็นต้น ลองเหลือบตาดูว่ามีคำสั่งให้ใช้ Scitopia หรือไม่ หากมีก็จะสามารถสืบค้นข้อมูลจากสมาคมอื่นๆ ได้ และหากบอกรับฐานข้อมูลนั้นอยู่จะสามารถค้นข้อมูล Fulltext ได้ทันที Scitopia จึงคล้ายกับ CrossRef ในฐานข้อมูลอีกค่ายหนึ่ง นอกจากนี้ Scitopia ยังมีประโยชน์ว่าหากฐานข้อมูลเฉพาะกำหนดจำนวนแสดงผลไว้จำกัด Scitopia จะแก้ปัญหานั้นได้ เช่น
- ฐานข้อมูล IEEE กำหนดจำนวนแสดงข้อมูลจากการค้นแบบ Basic Search ไว้ 100 รายการแรก และการแสดงผลของการค้นแบบ Advances ไว้ที่จำนวน 500 รายการแรก...อย่างนี้ลองมาค้นที่ Scitopia

จากข้อมูลทั้งหมด สามารถจำกัดผลการแสดงให้เฉพาะเจาะจงตามประเด็นหัวข้อ (Topic) ชื่อผู้แต่ง ชื่อฐานข้อมูลหรือชื่อวารสาร สำนักพิมพ์หรือชื่อสมาคม ปี และชื่อหน่วยงานที่นำไปใช้ประโยชน์หรือนำไปทดลอง
ข้อมูลที่ได้นั้นสามารถพิมพ์ และส่งไปทาง E-mail ได้...น่าสน...เทอมนี้แหละจะนำไปแนะนำนักศึกษาให้รู้จัก...ตอนนี้ก็ขอทำความรู้จักกับ Scitopia ให้มากขึ้นก่อนนะคะ

ขอเรียนถามดังนี้ครับ
1. ทำไมสมาคมหมายเลข 16.Society of Automotive Engineers-SAE ไม่มีในรายการบนเว็บไซด์ของ scitopia ครับ
และเมื่อลอง search บน scitopia เองก็ไม่มีสมาคมนี้ด้วยครับ
2. ปัญหาของผมคือ ผมลงตีพิมพ์ใน SAE แต่ไม่มี impact factor และมาทราบทีหลังว่าการลงในฐานข้อมูล scitopia สามารถ
นับเป็น journal (1 แต้ม) ของ สกอ.ได้ครับ (แต่ปัญหาอยู่ในข้อ 1)
3. สมาคมหมายเลข 14. ที่ใช้ตัวย่อ OSA น่าจะเป็น Optical Society of America นะครับ
