Attention please!
บทความนี้เขียนขึ้นเพื่อใช้ประกอบการเรียน General Writing IV ซึ่งอาจารย์จะให้หัวข้อเรื่องมาเขียนทุกสัปดาห์ (อย่างกะโจทย์เพลงประจำสัปดาห์ของบ้าน AF เลยครับ) อย่างไรก็ตาม เนื่องจากเป็นการเขียนเพื่อการฝึกหัด ดังนั้นจึงอาจยังมีข้อบกพร่องในเรื่องแนวคิดได้ในหลาย ๆ จุด ซึ่งผมขอน้อมรับคำติชมและความคิดเห็นต่าง ๆ ไว้เพื่อการปรับปรุงต่อไปครับ
อนึ่ง ความคิดเห็นต่าง ๆ ที่สอดแทรกอยู่ในบทความนั้นเป็นความคิดเห็นส่วนตัวของผมทั้งสิ้น (ซึ่งขอบอกตรง ๆ ครับว่า บางครั้งผมก้อไม่ได้คิดอย่างนั้นหรอก แต่ไม่รู้จะเขียนอะไรดี เพราะไม่มีไอเดียจริง ๆ ครับ) หากท่านไม่เห็นด้วย ท่านสามารถแสดงความคิดเห็นได้ แต่โปรดอย่าวิพากษ์ว่าความคิดเห็นใดถูกหรือผิด ดีหรือไม่ดี เพราะต่างคนก้อคงต่างความคิด นานาจิตตังครับ

Gender Equality in Thailand
How women are treated in each society varies from culture to culture, and from time to time. In Thai history, women, compared to men, used to be treated less equally due to Thai beliefs and values. Although a lot of policies and campaigns have been established to help reduce the gaps of gender inequality at the present time, there remain black holes in Thai society. Among these, cultural-based bias, and biases in profession advancement seem to be the most prominent.
In Thai culture, women are expected to be neat and polite. It is better for a woman to wait for her boyfriend to ask if she would like to be his wife. The way she can express her feelings to him is limited. Most people would not accept it if she proposed to him. After marriage, although having another spouse should be objectionable for both sexes, there is a noticeable difference in social acceptance if he or she does so, that is, men will be blamed much less than women. Furthermore, doing this is also acceptable in some groups of people. Male Thai Muslims are able to have up to 4 wives while female are allowed to have only one husband. In the case that they cannot live together and divorce is necessary, being a widower is better than being a widow in some circumstances. Widowers will be thought of as if nothing ever happened to their lives, while some people may think that widows are like used things. This belief may be based on virginity which is seem as very important only for women.
Thais in the past believed that men were leaders whom women should follow. This belief which is still attractive to some generations may obstruct women’s advancement in careers. The UNIFEM study that focused on male and female government officers in Thailand revealed an interesting fact, that is, although there were more women working for the government than men, most of them were placed in low positions and levels. Only 20.77, 10.56 and 6.45 percent of women are in C9, C10 and C11 levels. Women are thought to be less responsible and their decisions are less trustworthy, compared to men.
From the past up until now in Thai society, despite the belief that gender equality has been widely accepted, and that many improvements have been made, there still remain gaps that need to be filled. Women should be treated as equally as men.
