Two days ago I learned a lot about ‘fear’ and ‘consciousness’ from my little grand daughter she is one and a half years old. In a video (our daughter sent us), she was on a hang bridge in a playground for much old kids, searching for something to hold on (the bridge hand rails are too high for her to reach) while going further. She kept eyes for the gaps between the planks and took each step slowly. We could see her fear and her awareness of the possible danger. Yes, she crossed that 5 meter hang bridge safely and climbed down the ladder back to the ground. She went on to a swing showing nothing about her achievement nor fear.
This is an amazing learning for me. The lesson is to not let fear stop what we want to do but not to do carelessly! To me it is a valuable lesson that one so young has learned without conceit
So what is fear to us. Is this larger than life?
