I was at a night bazaar in Nan (Northern Thailand) last month and was impressed by a volunteer group - they set up shop to receive and separate rubbish (into recyclable/ reusable, compost-able,… Other shops were selling rubbish. (A cold coffee came with 1 cup, 1 lid, 1 straw and a plastic bag as handle – that’s 4 pieces of plastic – all ‘rubbish’ - not reusable, compost-able, …). Guess who is making most profit out of a cup of coffee? Plastic makers - of course. Guess who is paying for all this rubbish? The buyer - of course. But if we don’t buy, guess who suffer most? The poor sellers - who need income and earn it by hard work. And guess who suffer most of all? We and all lives in the the world do - one way or another. Sigh.

Time for big push into re-usable and compost-able packaging technologies. Thailand is full of smart thinkers and well-wishers, so let’s turn “One day to Day one”
