I do think this case is not one unique instance but a class of a lot more instances (replacing Myanmar with another country) now and to come (due to ASEAN).

Are there similar cases in the past with Malysians involved?

Though I suspect that these cases would have been under Malaysian jurisdiction rather than Thailand's.
