There are so many problems on keeping today's economy alive in working order. When a house is on fire, we don't think of restoring and modifying rooms and gardens for tomorrows. That will have to come when the fire is out and and all the family is safe and ready to re-occupy the house again.

Perhaps it is easier to set up fringe communities for older people and to let them develop economies for their own communities. After all most older people now are no longer held back by 'rules of work' anymore. They can think and do things a lot more freely.
