Had we (Thailand) been pro-active, there would have been one or two LCD/LED digital TV manufacturing plants in Thailand to supply demand (of 5-7 millions sets in Thailand and neiboting countries) and to generate employment and TV service businesses. LCD/LED TVs use less than half electricity that CRT TVs of the same size use. So saving in electricity 'nationally' could have been factored in the cost of this digital transmission change. Instead we have this 'free set-tops' solution...
