I cut grasses around the house. I n doing so, I change the environment for many things: tall and long grasses are denied of their natural growth; short runners now get more sunlight and grow wild; seeds that had been locked up in soil for years have sprouted -- many are so-called 'weeds'; wild quails that used to come and feed on tall grass seeds have now moved to other areas; curly (lawn) grubs are doing well and bandicoots come closer to the house to dig up the lawn to get to the curly grubs; ...

Simple acts of human vanity can really have far reaching side effects... beyond my imagination! ;-)
