I suggest you clean/delete previously installed Joomla --completely-- and do another 'fresh install'.

This time, make a step to 'print the installation guide' and keep it ready, and do make notes of what you input into the installation process: user name, password, database names, --every thing you type will come back to haunt you-- ;-)
