In short - a victim of its own success - innovative & pioneering technology companies like Kodak, Sillicon Graphics, & Digital - RIP ;-)  Just to name a few.

Not only successful companies that fall victim to its own success .. successful people too .. but that probably need a new planet of blogging.

Back to companies, without extensive research like k. conductor, I'll stick with one word that came to my mind - Reinvent.

Successful compaines keep reinventing themselves i.e. Apple. I was going to say Microsoft, but Bill Gates is more successful than his company in reinventing himself as a philanthrophist with his foundation.

There is nothing new under the sun - the same success tools can be used and re-used again, but the question is when.

Also, one tool that is used often by Board of Directors when companies go bad, change a CEO :-). A new CEO will certainly give a few boost to any inert in a company.
